Precision Acoustics

New Paper Published by Thomas Kelley

16 January 2019

Thomas KelleyOne of the research themes at Precision Acoustics during 2018 focussed on the performance of PVDF sensors at high temperature, which concluded with a research article by Thomas Kelley entitled Effect of temperature on the pulse-echo performance of ultrasonic transducers fabricated with PVDF film.

The article has recently been published in IET Science, Measurement & Technology, a journal that focuses on theory, simulation methodologies and measurement techniques within the fields of science, engineering and technology underpinning electronic and electrical engineering, nanotechnology and medical instrumentation.

The work was made possible under the ReDress project 103900 of InnovateUK, part of UK Research and Innovation (a non-departmental public body funded by a grant-in-aid from the UK government).

Tom said:

“This was a fun project to work on which yielded some interesting results and has provided a useful insight into using PVDF sensors at higher temperatures. It was particularly exciting to watch their performance drop in real-time over the first few minutes of each measurement as the logarithmic decay made for some very rapid changes, especially at the higher temperatures.”

The publication is now available to download from the IET website and is free, courtesy of the IET digital library until June 2019, so grab a copy while you can.
